Report: Falcons are signing Gervon Dexter to four-year extension

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing Dexter’s agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus, the Falcons are signing defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. to a four-year, $78 million extension with $46.5 million guaranteed. Schefter reported that Atlanta traded for Dexter on August 30 and is completing the extension one month later.

Dexter’s available 2026–27 production with the Atlanta Falcons covers 3 games: 7 total tackles, 2 solo tackles, 1 sack and 1 pass defended. The totals provide the early statistical record for the defensive tackle after the reported August trade and before the reported extension is official.

Atlanta is 1-2 in the team data. Its defense ranks fifth in EPA among 32 teams, while its offense ranks 31st. That places the reported Dexter agreement alongside a Falcons defense that has posted one of the league’s strongest EPA rankings through the available record, even as the offense sits near the bottom of that measure.

The reported deal is for four years and carries $46.5 million in guarantees, according to Schefter’s report and the Rosenhaus brothers. Dexter’s 2026–27 line currently includes contributions across tackles, sacks and passes defended, while Atlanta’s team profile shows a clear difference between its fifth-ranked defense and 31st-ranked offense.
