Jalen Duren has agreed to return to the Detroit Pistons on a five-year, $200 million fully guaranteed contract, according to ESPN's Shams Charania, who cited Duren's agent, Chafie Fields of THE•TEAM. NBA on TNT's Chris Haynes also reported that the restricted free agent center agreed to accept the five-year, $200 million deal. Charania reported that the agreement ends the sides' prolonged restricted free-agency dispute.
Duren's available numbers are from 2025-26, not the current 2026-27 season. In 70 games, all starts, the center averaged 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2 assists in 28.2 minutes per game. His 68.8 true shooting percentage reflects his scoring efficiency, while his 23.8 usage percentage measures the share of Detroit possessions he finished with a shot, trip to the foul line or turnover.
He produced a 4.2 Keel Impact, our estimate of the points per 100 possessions a player adds versus an average player. That ranked 15th among 379 players with 500 minutes or more in 2025-26. The combination of 10.5 rebounds per game and that efficiency placed Duren among the strongest statistical contributors in the available player data.
Detroit went 60-22 in 2025-26 and posted a plus-8 net rating, meaning it was 8 points per 100 possessions better than its opponents. That was third in the NBA among 30 teams. The Pistons ranked 10th offensively and second defensively, providing the team context for Duren's reported agreement to remain in Detroit.

Duren ultimately accepts the standing Pistons proposal ahead of the 11:59 pm ET deadline on a one-year, $9.6M qualifying offer. Detroit placed the $200M guaranteed offer two weeks ago after offers ranging from $170M to $190M throughout the summer. There were fractures built within the player-team relationship during the business of restricted free agency that impact the start of the Pistons season. The 22-year-old skipped media day and the start of training camp mulling over the QO and hoping for a potential sign and trade, but the Pistons stood firm awaiting a decision and the sides lock in long term on a massive deal.
