Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has an ankle sprain, according to an MRI performed Monday, and there is a chance he will be able to play Sunday against the visiting Miami Dolphins, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Schefter’s report describes Jefferson’s availability for the game as possible rather than certain.
Through three games in 2026-27, Jefferson has 13 receptions on 17 receiving targets for 179 yards and two receiving touchdowns. The wide receiver’s production has come while Minnesota has opened the season 3-0, giving the Vikings a productive passing-game option early in the schedule.
The Vikings enter the matchup ranked 25th of 32 teams in offensive EPA and second of 32 in defensive EPA. EPA measures the expected points added by a team’s plays; Minnesota’s defensive standing has been a major part of its unbeaten start, while its offensive ranking sits in the lower portion of the league.
Miami arrives at 0-3 and is ranked 29th of 32 teams in offensive EPA and 18th of 32 in defensive EPA. The report does not state whether Jefferson will practice or provide a further timetable beyond the chance that he could play Sunday.
