The Kansas City Chiefs had already shown interest in signing free-agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill before injuries to Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice, and a team source said the club has remained in contact with Hill after Sunday’s game, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The report describes interest and ongoing talks, not an agreement.
Thornton has been a productive part of Kansas City’s unbeaten start, posting 11 receptions on 15 targets for 219 yards and two touchdowns in four games this season. Rice recorded 13 catches from 17 targets for 190 yards and one touchdown across three games before the reported injury. Their availability has put added attention on the Chiefs’ receiver group.
Hill, listed with the Miami Dolphins last season, had 21 receptions on 29 targets for 265 yards and one touchdown in four games in 2025-26. Kansas City is 4-0, ranking fourth of 32 teams in offensive EPA and 12th in defensive EPA. The Dolphins are 0-4, with the 31st-ranked offense and 14th-ranked defense by EPA.
