Keel Stats team card: Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton is now calling the team’s offense, while Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans is calling Houston’s defense, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter reported that the two head coaches took over their respective units within two days.

Payton takes direct control of a Broncos offense ranked 21st among 32 teams in EPA. Denver’s defense is 28th, so the change places the head coach on the team’s higher-ranked unit.

Ryans moves into play-calling on a Texans defense that ranks 24th among 32 teams in EPA. Houston’s offense is 22nd, leaving Ryans with responsibility for the lower-ranked side of the ball.
