Overtime answer
Tyler Huntley’s 1-yard keeper with 2:57 left in overtime gave the Baltimore Ravens a 30-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, October 11, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Huntley completed 24 of 32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns, then finished Baltimore’s decisive overtime march himself. The turning point came much earlier in the finish: trailing 23-15, the Ravens drove for a tying touchdown with 40 seconds left, and Derrick Henry ran in the two-point conversion.
Atlanta had built its 23-15 edge on field goals in the fourth quarter, including one with 2:31 remaining. But the Falcons could not close out a game in which they led by as many as eight, and Baltimore’s comeback sent the Ravens to 4-1 while Atlanta fell to 2-3.
The drives that changed it
Atlanta seized the early lead when a Baltimore fumble became a 36-yard return touchdown, then Michael Penix Jr. found Kyle Pitts for a 5-yard score before halftime. The Falcons pushed the margin to 17-9 after the break, but Huntley answered with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Henry after a 47-yard run put Baltimore deep in Atlanta territory.
The Falcons still held 23-15 after their 48-yard field goal, only for Huntley to connect on a 7-yard touchdown pass with 40 seconds remaining. Baltimore’s win probability swung from 17% to 83% at that moment, though Atlanta briefly regained the chance to win before its final possession ended with an interception by Kyle Hamilton.
Overtime belonged to Baltimore’s rushing attack. The Ravens covered 80 yards in 15 plays over 7:03, with Henry’s 24 carries for 102 yards helping sustain the possession before Huntley reached the goal line.
Why Baltimore had the answer
Both teams finished at 0.08 EPA per play; EPA measures expected points added on each play. Baltimore’s 51% success rate, the share of plays with positive EPA, stood well above Atlanta’s 36%, a sign of the Ravens finding enough workable downs despite four sacks taken.
Baltimore leaned on a rushing offense that produced 0.17 EPA per play and 208 yards, while Atlanta’s ground game posted minus-0.31 EPA per play. Penix threw for 240 yards and Drake London caught seven passes for 118 yards, but the Falcons’ 110 rushing yards did not give their offense the same late-game balance.
The Ravens next visit the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, October 18, at 4-1. The Falcons, 2-3, host the Chicago Bears on Sunday, October 18.
