Keel Stats team card: Washington Wizards

Washington Wizards forward AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall pick, will miss Opening Night on Wednesday with an ankle injury, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Stein reported that Wizards coach Brian Keefe said Dybantsa hurt the ankle in the team's preseason finale. Dybantsa has no NBA regular-season numbers yet, so there is no track record to measure what the Wizards lose in the opener.

The team he joins was the league's weakest last season. Washington went 17-65 in 2025-26 and finished with a net rating of -11.5, outscored by 11.5 points per 100 possessions, 30th of 30 teams.

The Wizards were 29th in offensive rating and 30th in defensive rating.
