Game card: Golden State Warriors 134, Denver Nuggets 114, with each team's leader
The Golden State Warriors (37-45), who attempt more threes than any team, visit the Nuggets (54-28) and the league's best offense Monday, October 26, with turnovers their best counter. Tip-off is at 10:00 PM ET.
The figures are from last season, with this season's rosters. Denver's offensive rating of 120.3 and effective field goal percentage of 57.7% both led the league. Golden State's defense allowed 55.3%, 20th, so the Warriors give the Nuggets few reasons to miss.
The Warriors forced turnovers on 13.5% of opponent possessions, fourth in the league, but Denver's defense forced them on only 10%, the lowest rate. Golden State's own turnover rate of 13.3% ranked 27th and Denver's 10.9% ranked third.
Nikola Jokic averaged 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.7 assists in 65 games last season. Stephen Curry averaged 26.6 points in 43 games.
The Warriors are thin. Jimmy Butler is out, with a return set for Saturday, January 2, and Kristaps Porzingis and Moses Moody are out until Tuesday, December 1. Gui Santos is questionable, and Brandon Williams and Charles Bassey are probable.
Denver has gaps too. Cameron Johnson, at 29.3 minutes a game, and Alpha Diallo are doubtful, and Spencer Jones and Julian Strawther are out.
Denver has won 12 straight and is 10-0 in its last 10. Golden State has lost three in a row, the latest 131-122 at Phoenix.
Sportsbook prices give the Nuggets a 71% chance to win. Keel's projection, built from the players available, puts it at 83%.
