Game card: Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves, Wed, Oct 28, 8:00 PM
The Golden State Warriors (1-3) and their fourth-best offense visit the Minnesota Timberwolves (3-1) and the league's third-best defense on Wednesday, October 28, with Minnesota missing leading scorer Anthony Edwards.
Tip-off in Minneapolis is at 8:00 PM ET. The Warriors' problem is at the other end: they allow 120.6 points per 100 possessions, 28th in the league, and opponents shoot a 60.2 effective field goal percentage against them, the worst mark.
Minnesota's offense is fifth at 115.6, so the Timberwolves meet a defense that gives up good shots.
The Warriors do have an edge on the glass. They grab 35.7% of their own misses, the best rate in the league, but Minnesota's Rudy Gobert (14.3 rebounds a game) anchors a team that ranks first in defensive rebounding at 79.5%.
Stephen Curry averages 23.7 points on 52.6% shooting and has made every free throw he has taken. Draymond Green hands out 7.0 assists a game. For Minnesota, LaMelo Ball averages 6.3 assists.
Edwards, who leads Minnesota at 33.3 points and 33.9 minutes a game, is out, with an expected return of Monday, December 21. Donte DiVincenzo is also out and expected back Friday, April 2.
Golden State is without Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody and Kristaps Porzingis, all out. Yaxel Lendeborg, the team's top rebounder at 9.3 a game, is questionable.
The Warriors beat Denver 134-114 in their last game after three straight losses. The Timberwolves lost 127-125 at Cleveland, their first defeat after three wins by 17 points or more.
Sportsbooks' prices give Minnesota a 59% chance to win. Keel's projection, built from the players available, puts it at 76%.
